Bandits kill hotelier in Kwara community

Armed bandits on Wednesday invaded Oro Ago community in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing a hotelier, DAILY POST reports.

Informed sources disclosed that the victim, identified as Chief Oladepo Aina, who is the Baape of Iyatedo and Chief Executive Officer of Kebe Hotel, was murdered by the suspected armed kidnappers.

The incident occurred at the victim’s hotel at about 4 pm, shortly after his return from Omu-Aran.

“They attempted to kidnap him where he sat down at the front of his hotel but he resisted them and he was then shot by the bandits,” said a witness.

Another report indicated that some people were also abducted during the attack on the community, but the State Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo denied the report.

He, however, confirmed the murder of one hotelier.

“Nobody was kidnapped, but one hotelier was killed during the attack on the community,” he stated in a text message to DAILY POST in Ilorin on Thursday.

Meanwhile, residents of Oro Ago community have expressed concern over bandits’ activities in the area despite the presence of security forces.

In a related development, one person was reportedly abducted in Babanla on Wednesday.

Recall that the wife of the traditional ruler of Babanla community is currently under interrogation with the Directorate of State Services, DSS, in Abuja in connection with her alleged role in bandit activities in the community.
