Afenifere tells Senate, AGF to establish whether Natasha lied against Akpabio

The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has called on the Senate and the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation to ascertain whether Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims against the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, are true.
In a statement on Thursday, the group said the truth of the matter needs to be established in order to set the record straight.
Afenifere emphasised that, for fairness and justice, the truth should be revealed to restore Nigeria’s image in the global community, where various media outlets and international parliaments have taken an interest in the matter.
DAILY POST recalls that Senator Natasha had accused the Senate President of sexual harassment. The Senate subsequently imposed a six-month suspension on her for violating its rules.
Following the expiration of her suspension, Natasha has returned to the Senate to resume her legislative duties.
Some months ago, Afenifere had urged that the truth of the matter be established.
With her return, the pan-Yoruba group is insisting that the AGF, Senate, and the country’s security agencies need to examine the matter thoroughly to uncover the real truth.
“We, at Afenifere, received the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s resolve to end a six-month suspension it placed on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over a proven breach of its Rules of Procedure with mixed feelings.
“For us, restoring her does not mean we should put all her claims behind us without subjecting them to judicial interpretation,” the group said.
