Another two-storey building collapses in Lagos

A two-storey building collapsed on Wednesday evening at No. 4 Modupeola Street, near Mangoro Bus Stop in the Alimosho area of Lagos State.
The incident, which occurred around 6 p.m., left one man trapped beneath the rubble while five other occupants were successfully rescued. The immediate cause of the collapse has not yet been established.
Footage shared on social media captured operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, at the site, coordinating rescue operations alongside other first responders.
The trapped victim, a 44-year-old resident of Olabode Street in Alimosho, was eventually pulled out of the debris with multiple fractures and bruises. He was rushed to the Surgical Emergency Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, by officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service.
According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the victim was admitted in stable condition. “The five rescued persons were taken to a private hospital within the community. He arrived at LASUTH stable and was immediately placed on further treatment,” Omotoso confirmed.
