Rooney reveals something in Ronaldo’s brain

Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, has noted that his former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo has something in his brain that no one else can boast about.

According to the former England international, Ronaldo’s mentality is beyond his imagination.

Rooney spoke about the time he shared the pitch with Ronaldo at Manchester United in the late 2000s when they won multiple honours at the club.

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s Rio Meets podcast, Rooney said he had to make sacrifices for Ronaldo, pointing out that he was more of a team player, while Ronaldo had a selfish streak.

“Not once did I think I needed to sacrifice,” adding that what mattered to him was to win the Premier League and the Champions League.

“Cristiano Ronaldo has got something in his brain which I don’t think anyone has got,” he added.

“He’s got this mindset and mentality which is way beyond anything I’ve seen in football.”

Rooney admitted that his mindset and mentality were not at the level Ronaldo operated as he did not care about winning the Ballon d’Or’s or any individual award.

Rooney said that while he was about winning collectively with his teammates, the Portuguese wanted everything, adding, “I didn’t have that” selfish mentality.

Ronaldo had spent a year at Manchester United before Wayne Rooney joined from Everton in 2004.

Both players had successful spells at Old Trafford, winning the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
