We’ll flush out Lakurawa from Kebbi — NSCDC

The Kebbi State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kabiru Abubakar Alkamawa, has assured residents that insecurity linked to the Lakurawa group will soon be brought under control.

Alkamawa gave the assurance on Monday during an interview with journalists in his office, shortly after activities marking this year’s International Day of Peace.

He admitted that Kebbi State has in recent times faced security challenges due to Lakurawa infiltration but stressed that the group would be confronted and flushed out in the near future.

The NSCDC Commandant noted that the Kebbi State Government has provided the command and other security agencies with the necessary support to safeguard lives and property.

He called on communities affected by the security situation to cooperate with operatives by providing timely information on criminal activities, assuring them that efforts were ongoing to restore peace across the state.

Earlier in his address at the event, Alkamawa said the theme of this year’s Peace Day, “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” was a reminder that peace is not only the absence of conflict but also the presence of justice, equality and mutual respect.

“When we promote dialogue over division, cooperation over confrontation and compassion over hatred, we are laying the foundation for a more peaceful society,” he added.
