Edo Governor appoints Eunice Omonzejie as new AAU VC

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Professor Eunice Omonzejie as the new Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Umar Ikhilo, who disclosed that the appointment takes immediate effect.
According to the statement, Omonzejie’s selection followed the submission of three shortlisted candidates by the university’s governing council.
Professor Omonzejie, an accomplished scholar in French and Francophone African Literatures, has built an extensive academic career at the Department of Modern Languages, AAU.
Her research spans African and Francophone literary studies, gender discourse, and cultural studies.
She has previously served as President of the AAU chapter of the National Association of Women Academics, NAWACS, where she championed mentorship, research initiatives, and advocacy for women in academia.
Omonzejie is widely published and has co-edited works such as French Language in Nigeria: Essays in Honour of UFTAN Pacesetters and Language Matters in Contemporary West Africa.
She is also the author of Women Novelists in Francophone Black Africa: Views, Reviews and Interviews.
The Edo State Government described her appointment as a recognition of her outstanding academic achievements, leadership qualities, and dedication to the advancement of the institution.
The government congratulated Professor Omonzejie and charged her to deploy her expertise and experience to strengthen AAU’s vision of producing globally competitive graduates while driving innovation and research.
