Benue: Police arrest suspect over killing of APC chieftain Ejeh Ijachi in Otukpo

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to the brutal murder of All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, Ejeh Ijachi, in Ugboju community, Otukpo Local Government Area.
Command spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, disclosed on Monday evening that operatives apprehended one of the alleged assailants following an intensive manhunt launched shortly after the incident.
“Yes, it is confirmed that the incident occurred and one of the suspects has been arrested and is in police custody. Investigation is still ongoing to capture the other suspects,” Edet stated.
The arrest comes barely a few hours after the chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Maxwell Ogiri, confirmed the assassination and vowed to work with security agencies to bring the killers to justice.
Ejeh Ijachi was gunned down in the early hours of Monday by armed men who reportedly trailed him to his residence after an evening outing.
Witnesses said the attackers arrived on motorcycles and shot him at close range.
Police said the detained suspect is currently being interrogated as efforts continue to track the remaining members of the gang behind the deadly attack.
