Adopt Nkrumah’s vision as a blueprint for national development – Armah-Kofi Buah

In an address during the week-long NkrumahFest 2025 celebration, the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, urged Ghanaians to adopt the vision of Ghana’s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, as a blueprint for national development.
The celebration, themed “Celebrating Nkrumah’s Enduring Impact,” is being held in Nkroful, Nkrumah’s hometown, to mark his 116th birthday.
Armah-Kofi Buah emphasized that Nkrumah’s vision aimed to build economic self-sufficiency, industrialization, and Pan-African unity to raise living standards across all sectors.

He noted that Nkrumah’s plan was vital for Ghana’s development today, as it sought to eradicate poverty, illiteracy, and diseases by modernizing agriculture and expanding industrial growth. A key aspect of Nkrumah’s blueprint was the proposed Seven-Year Development Plan.
According to the text, Nkrumah believed that true independence could only be achieved through economic empowerment and national unity, a vision that remains relevant today, given Ghana’s current economic challenges.
Armah-Kofi Buah urged Ghanaians to move beyond simply honoring Nkrumah’s memory and instead embody his legacy through action, specifically by joining the fight against illegal mining.
He stated that this call is part of a broader argument for embracing Nkrumah’s vision as a guide for the nation’s development.
