Police arrest six over alleged abduction of business partner in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of six men for allegedly abducting their business associate in the Lekki area of the state.
The victim, popularly known by the nickname Senator, was reportedly kidnapped and held hostage for three days over a business disagreement.
A police source who spoke with reporters on Sunday said the suspects were apprehended on Friday morning after a formal complaint was lodged by the victim’s family.
“The family filed a missing person report when the victim failed to return home after leaving the house on Tuesday. Detectives immediately launched an investigation and tracked his phone signal to an apartment in Lekki. A rescue team was dispatched to the location where he was eventually found,” the source explained.
Another officer familiar with the case disclosed that the suspects subjected the victim to inhumane treatment throughout his detention.
“His mobile phone was seized, and withdrawals were made from his bank account. During interrogation, it was revealed that the suspects had been involved in a joint business with him, and when the deal did not go in their favour, they resorted to abduction in an attempt to recover their money,” the officer said.
While the exact nature of the business dispute was not disclosed, police authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will face charges once questioning is concluded.
When contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said she had not yet been briefed on the incident.
“I will reach out to the division handling the case and provide updates accordingly,” she stated.
