Katsina judiciary appoints first female Chief Registrar

The Judicial Service Commission, JSC, has appointed Basira Umar as the first female Chief Registrar of the Katsina State High Court of Justice since the state’s creation in 1987.
The announcement was made in a statement to journalists on Saturday by Musa Usman, Director of Protocols at the state High Court of Justice. He said the appointment follows the retirement of Mr. Mustapha Hassan-Rumah.
Usman explained that the Chief Registrar serves as the judiciary’s chief accounting officer, responsible for managing financial matters, including budget preparation and oversight.
The position also entails overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of the state judiciary.
“Before her appointment, Basira Umar served as Director (Deputy Chief Registrar) of the Multi-Door Court,” he added.
