I won’t even spare my mother or father – Manhyia executioner warns public ahead of Asantehemaa burial

A chief executioner at the Manhyia Palace has issued a stark warning to residents of Kumasi ahead of the final burial rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, scheduled for tonight.

Speaking in a video that has been widely shared online, the executioner urged people to stay home and not to interfere with the sacred rites.

He also alleged that there are spiritual powers associated with traditional Abrofour roles.

In the clip, he stated;

“I can see you, but you can’t see me. If you see me and I don’t see you, you may lose consciousness. If you are bold, try it — let’s see. With my shell costume, no spirit can overcome me. If my mother comes, I will cut them; if my father comes, I will cut them. I don’t know you.”

His warning follows as Manhyia Palace and the funeral planning committee have implemented strict movement restrictions and a night curfew to preserve the sanctity of the rites and manage the large crowds expected for the burial.

The palace has asked residents of Kumasi to observe the closures of schools, markets, and businesses and to remain indoors during the nighttime proceedings.
