Manhyia’s chief executioner cautions ahead of Asantehemaa’s final funeral rites

In preparation for the burial of the late Asantehemaa, the chief executioner at the Manhyia Palace, known as the Manhyia Brafoo, has issued a strong warning to the residents of Kumasi.

During the procession on the second day of the funeral rites, Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the Manhyia Brafoo reiterated a strict curfew for Thursday, September 18, 2025—the day of the burial.

The warning states that anyone who violates the curfew on Thursday night will have themselves to blame.

The executioner emphasized the seriousness of the order, stating in the Twi dialect;

“We are not joking. We’re not bragging. It is an order. We are saying that on Thursday, stay indoors. If you say you are a man, get out and let us see.”

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, officially announced the death of the Asantehemaa on August 11, 2025.

Nana Ama Konadu, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the 14th Asantehemaa, a position she held since 2017 following the death of her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

She was the biological sister of the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
