Ogun APC accuses Gbenga Daniel of spreading falsehood

The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed a press conference organised by Senator Gbenga Daniel’s media team, describing it as “a sham” and accusing the senator of spreading falsehood about his suspension from the party.
In a statement signed by Nuberu Adesanya Olufemi, Director of Publicity of the Ogun APC, the party alleged that the individuals paraded at the press briefing as APC leaders in Ogun East were unknown to the party.
According to him, “the list of people his team is calling ‘APC leaders’ in Ogun East is fake. These individuals are actually coordinators for his Gateway Foundation… Not a single Ward Chairman or Local Government Chairman is on that list.”
The party also faulted the senator’s claim about his ward, insisting that records from INEC show that Daniel is from Ward 04 in Sagamu Local Government. “That easily puts a lie to the fraudulent submission of OGD’s spokesperson on the status of his ward,” the statement added.
The APC insists Senator Daniel’s suspension was the result of confirmed anti-party activities. It stated that the senator was “credibly accused of working against the party” and that evidence showed he “connived with the opposition to undermine his party.” The party added that Daniel ignored several summons and refused to defend himself before party organs. “He was given ample opportunity to defend himself over the allegations levelled against him but he chose not to,” it said.
According to the party, due process was followed in suspending the senator. Reports from his ward and local government were submitted and endorsed by the respective chairmen and secretaries. “The senator was found culpable for working against the party by his own ward,” the statement noted.
The APC insisted that the matter is strictly an internal issue and accused the senator’s camp of attempting to politicise it for 2027. It pointed out that the same State Working Committee (SWC) being attacked by Daniel’s supporters had earlier approved his candidacy without any complaints from him. “Pray, when this very same State Working Committee that he now says are ‘compromised’ ratified his candidacy for the Senate, did he complain then?” it asked.
The party further explained that the window for appeal has already closed. “If the Daniel wailers want to wail, that’s their right… They can sustain their appeal on social media,” it said.
The Ogun APC also criticised Senator Daniel’s commitment to the party since he became a senator, questioning whether those he presented as APC leaders had ever attended ward meetings. It accused him of distancing himself from party members at the grassroots. “Since he became a Senator, when has he ever come back to his party constituency for a feedback session?” the statement queried.
The party further reaffirmed its decision on Daniel’s suspension stands unless reversed through the proper internal channels.
