The government of Ghana has been commended for creating an enabling environment for the deployment of cleaner energy sources, particularly solar power, to strengthen the country’s energy security.
The Project Manager of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK Ghana), Mr. Caleb Annan Sarpong, praised government efforts during a solar energy exhibition in Accra. He highlighted that collaboration with the private sector and development partners is central to promoting solar adoption in Ghana.
The two-day exhibition, held under the theme “Greener Solutions, Stronger Economy,” was part of the 13th West African Clean Energy and Environment Trade Fair and Conference (WACEE’25). It brought together innovators, policymakers, investors, and industry leaders from West Africa and Europe to explore sustainable solutions in clean energy, the circular economy, and environmental technology.
“We have exhibitors from Switzerland, Germany, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Côte d’Ivoire showcasing innovative environmental technologies and solutions,” Mr. Sarpong said. He stressed that Ghana’s abundant sunshine, averaging eight hours daily, positions the country as ideal for solar power generation.
Mr. Sarpong emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships, highlighting government policies and incentive support alongside private sector innovation.
The Project Manager of Hedge Energy Solutions, Mr. Nicholas Kyei Osae, showcased renewable energy products, including Dynex batteries for households and Goodwill inverters for industrial use. He noted that their solar solutions could cut industrial energy costs by up to 80 percent while ensuring reliable power supply.
The Co-CEO of Subasol Sustainable Battery Solutions echoed the message, describing solar as a clean and cost-effective energy source that can drive economic growth and sustainability in Ghana.
