Youths in the High-Level area of Makurdi, Benue State, on Thursday afternoon apprehended a 53-year-old man identified as Ahagba after he allegedly attempted to steal a mobile phone.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was caught in the act and immediately restrained by alert residents before he could flee.
The quick response of the youths prevented the theft, earning commendation from locals for their vigilance and coordinated action.
Community members are urging residents to remain cautious as the festive season approaches a period often associated with an increase in petty crimes.
