MOWAA: It’s not true – German Ambassador dismisses report of Edo Gov revoking Museum land

German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annet Gunther has debunked reports purporting that the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo revoked the land title granted to the Museum of West African Art, MOWAA.
There are reports indicating that the land title granted during the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki has been revoked.
The report quoted government officials saying that the property will revert to its original use as the historic Benin Central Hospital.
It was also reported that stakeholders in the state including the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, kicked against the project, leading to the purported revocation.
However, the German Ambassador in a terse statement on X, formerly Twitter on Wednesday said the report is untrue.
According to her, the governor’s office had declared the report as a social media scam, expressing readiness to working with President Bola Tinubu’s government.
The post reads, “This doesn’t seem to be true. Governor’s office assured me yesterday that re MOWAA nothing has been revoked, declares this a social media scam.
“We will all work in good faith with the committee established by HE President Tinubu.”
