Another Kano lawmaker resigns from NNPP, moves to APC

Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources and member representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, Sagir Ibrahim Koki, has announced his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP.
In a letter dated November 11, 2025, and addressed to the Chairperson of Zaitawa Ward, Koki explained that the persistent internal crises within the party’s leadership had hindered his ability to effectively represent his constituents.
“I have taken this decision because the internal crisis in the party leadership at the centre has made it difficult, if not impossible, for me to continue discharging my duties and provide my people with the desired representation in the House of Representatives,” Koki wrote.
He expressed appreciation to the NNPP for giving him the opportunity to serve, describing the experience as both valuable and memorable.
Koki added that his decision to resign was made in line with Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution and the provisions of the party’s constitution.
His departure comes barely two days after Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, another lawmaker who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, also resigned from the NNPP and rejoined the All Progressives Congress, APC.
