72 Golfers Taking Part in 2025 Gold Fields Damang Golf Tournament

Seventy-two elite golfers are taking part in this year’s prestigious Gold Fields Damang PGA Championship, which teed off in the Western Region yesterday.
The participating golfers—45 regulars, 14 seniors, and 13 lady professionals from Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, South Africa, and Zimbabwe—will compete for honours over the next four days.
Alhaji Ahmed Padori, Vice President of PGA Ghana, indicated that the tournament was a special one as the season marks its 50th anniversary, and commended the players for their commitment and dedication to golf. He also expressed gratitude to Gold Fields Ghana for their support as headline sponsors and investment in female golfers.
Mr Eric Henaku, the Tournament Director, said the competition brings the best out of the players.
Mr Sampson Arthur, Operations Manager of Abosso Golf Club, who performed the teeing off ceremony to symbolise the official start of the competition, urged players to give their best to emerge victorious.
Rev. Akwasi Prempeh, the Course Manager, lauded the management and staff of Damang Gold Fields for hosting the PGA for the 11th time and commended them for maintaining the course and keeping it green and fresh to host the competition.
Mr Peter Damuah, captain of the Damang club, welcomed the officials and players and expressed concern about the low participation of females.
Steve Robins, Senior Technical Manager of Damang Gold Fields, also welcomed the golfers and wished them a great tournament.
The winner of the competition will take home an amount of GH¢60,000.
