Tinubu meets Chief of Army Staff in Aso Villa

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday met behind closed doors with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in response to the security challenges confronting the country.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, Lt. Gen. Shaibu said his assessment of current security operations, particularly following his recent visit to the Northeast, showed encouraging progress.

He assured Nigerians that security would improve nationwide after briefing the President.

When asked what Nigerians should expect in the coming weeks, he stated confidently, “improved security across the country.”

According to him, his briefing to the President covered the outcome of his operational tour of the Northeast theatre of operations, as well as updates on the broader security situation.

The army chief added that the overall situation during the period under review remained satisfactory, reflecting enhanced coordination among security agencies and sustained pressure on criminal networks.

“I came to brief him on the outcome of my visit to the Northeast region and then look at other security situations across the country, which was satisfactory within this period,” he said.
