St. Paul’s Lutheran School extends support to Mampong School for the Deaf ahead of festive season

Students across the country are being encouraged to show compassion and kindness to the vulnerable as the festive season approaches. Demonstrating this call to action, St. Paul’s Lutheran School at Kanda has donated essential supplies to the Mampong Demonstration School for the Deaf under its annual Be a Blessing outreach programme.

The school mobilised food items, toiletries, polytanks, and other necessities from pupils and staff. The presentation event was marked by warm interactions, shared smiles, and emotional exchanges between the two schools, creating a memorable atmosphere of solidarity.

Students of the Mampong Demonstration School for the Deaf told JoyNews that the gesture made them feel appreciated and seen. Their expressions and hand signs reflected deep gratitude, underscoring the power of compassion to transcend communication barriers.

The head of St. Paul’s Lutheran School said the initiative aims to instil lifelong values in learners, not just offer temporary support.

“We want our students to learn that giving is not just about items, but about love and compassion,” he explained.

Teachers at the Mampong Demonstration School also expressed profound appreciation. They highlighted that the donated polytanks would significantly ease their longstanding water challenges, improving daily life for both students and staff.

For many pupils from St. Paul’s, the visit was their first close interaction with hearing-impaired children, offering a meaningful lesson in inclusion, patience, and shared humanity.

For the St. Paul’s community, Be a Blessing has become more than a charitable event. It is a tradition that reinforces empathy and social responsibility among young people. The programme concluded with a touching sign-language poem by student Cara, urging everyone present to extend kindness beyond the festive season.
