Samson Deen has been re-elected as President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC) for another four-year term after receiving 38 out of 40 votes at the 2025 African Paralympic General Assembly held in Accra, Ghana.
The General Assembly, hosted at the Marriot Hotel, brought together representatives from 42 national Paralympic Committees and 20 international observers.
Deen’s re-election, with 95% of the votes, extends his leadership of the continental body until 2029.
He first assumed office in 2021 and has since overseen initiatives aimed at improving inclusivity, athlete participation, and visibility for Paralympic sports across Africa.
In his address following the election, Deen thanked delegates for their confidence, pledging to continue efforts toward building a stronger and more inclusive Paralympic movement on the continent.
“The trust placed in me by the delegates is a testament to our shared belief in the power of sports to transform lives,” said Deen.
“Together, we will continue to build an inclusive and dynamic Paralympic movement that uplifts every athlete and every nation in Africa,” he concluded.
Ghana’s Ignatius Elletey was elected General Secretary of the African Paralympic Committee, securing 36 out of 39 votes.
