NPFL: Remo Stars halt losing streak, Rivers United beat Kun Khalifat away


Remo Stars ended their three-game losing streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors in Abeokuta on Monday night.

Daniel Ogunmodede’s side moved out of the relegation zone following the win.

El-Kanemi Warriors stunned the home fans in the 58th minute when Jonas Emmanuel fired home the opener.

Remo Stars, however, responded with two late goals from Victor Mbaoma and Michael Ibe to secure maximum points.

In Owerri, Rivers United defeated Kun Khalifat 1-0 to secure fourth place on the league table.

It was Finidi George’s side’s second away win of the season.

Saka Gafar scored the decisive goal as Plateau United defeated Bendel Insurance 1-0 at the New Jos Stadium.
