Energy Minister, World Bank discuss collaboration to strengthen power sector

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has held discussions with a World Bank delegation led by Dr Robert Taliercio on ways to deepen collaboration and sustain reforms in Ghana’s energy sector.

The courtesy call, held earlier today, focused on key strategies to enhance the country’s power supply system and ensure lasting improvements across the sector.

During the engagement, Mr Jinapor outlined his top priorities for the Ministry, which include reducing system losses, improving operational efficiency, and guaranteeing affordable and reliable electricity for all Ghanaians.

He noted that these objectives are central to the government’s broader energy transition agenda aimed at achieving a sustainable and resilient power sector.

The Minister also emphasised the government’s commitment to securing additional generation capacity at lower costs to ensure long-term stability and affordability.

According to him, the Ministry is pursuing strategic initiatives to attract investment into cost-effective and cleaner energy sources to boost national development.

On their part, the World Bank delegation reaffirmed the institution’s position as a strategic partner to Ghana’s energy sector.

Dr Taliercio assured the Minister of the Bank’s continued support towards the government’s ongoing reforms and its commitment to providing technical and financial assistance to help the Ministry realise its objectives.
