Akwa Ibom: Native doctor on the run as police apprehend suspected robbery syndicate at residence


A native doctor in Ikot Ineme village, Akwa Ibom State, has remained at large as police operatives invaded his residence and arrested a suspected robbery syndicate terrorizing the area.

The police relations officer in the state, DSP Timfon John, who disclosed this in a statement in Uyo on Monday, said the suspected robbers, identified as Akan Udo ‘M’, 40 years, and Namso Monday ‘M’, 20 years, came to the native doctor’s place for treatment of an undisclosed ailment.

She said that from intelligence gathered, the native doctor was alleged to have been aiding the criminal gang, adding that efforts were underway to apprehend him.

She added that during subsequent investigation, a third suspect, Mbata Udo, was identified and arrested in connection with the same armed robbery incident.

The PPRO listed the items recovered from the suspects to include: one locally made pistol, one locally made revolver pistol, sixteen (16) machetes, six (6) mobile phones, two (2) big generators, one (1) battle axe, one (1) plier, and other incriminating items.

She said investigation was ongoing and the suspects would be charged to court upon completion.
