The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has thrown its weight and loyalty to the factional National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagum.
The chairmen reaffirmed their support in a statement at a meeting on Thursday, dismissing the faction led by Abdulrahman Mohammed as illegitimate.
The Forum, comprising 29 state chairmen, said Damagum remains the only recognised national chairman of the party under the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended).
The State chairmen in the statement said, “The forum in the same vein dissociates itself from the purported Abdurahman leadership and wants to categorically say that the PDP has only one National Chairman, His Excellency Umar Damagun.”
It applauded what it termed the collaborative leadership between the National Working Committee, NWC, the PDP Governors’ Forum led by the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, and the Board of Trustees, BoT, chaired by Adolphus Wabara.
