In a response to the alarming rise of assaults against educators, the Ogun State Government has officially implemented a zero-tolerance policy aimed at safeguarding teachers throughout the region.

The announcement, made by the Chairman of Teaching Service Commission, Biodun Sanyaolu, on Friday.

Sanyaolu emphasised the State’s commitment to a secured and respectful environment for all educators.

Sanyaolu stated that the State government had made it clear that any individual found guilty of assaulting a teacher would face the full force of the law, as no one would be exempted.

“We wish to state clearly and unequivocally that Ogun State maintains a zero-tolerance policy for any form of assault or intimidation against any teacher. This is a commitment we take seriously, as the safety and dignity of our teaching force are essential for maintaining the quality and integrity of our public education system.

The TESCOM Boss further restated that, with the policy implementation by the state government which aimed to deter potential offenders and ensure a conducive atmosphere where educators could focus on their vital role of molding young minds, a culture of respect towards teachers would have been revived.

“This decisive enforcement underscores our commitment to protecting those who dedicate their lives to educating and nurturing the future of our state.”

He encouraged parents and community members to collaborate in fostering respect for teachers, saying that awareness and education about the importance of value for the teaching profession could lead to a safer and more supportive environment for educators.
