‘Military officers sympathetic to Boko Haram should be treated as terrorists’

A Professor of the International Relations and Strategic Studies, at the University of Lagos, David Aworawo, has urged the Federal Government to treat any military officer who sympathizes with Boko Haram as a terrorist.
Aworawo made this call on Friday while speaking in an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.
He lamented that some military officers have been killed because of the complicity of their colleagues who are working with the terrorists.
“This is the biggest of all the problems, by far the most important issue to resolve. You will recall that in the aftermath of the kidnap of the Chibok girls, there were actually efforts from the United States to help Nigeria to rescue them.
“When you have an enemy within, it becomes a huge problem. I don’t know how the government plans to do that because we have gallant military men who are committed. Sadly, some of them have died because of the complicity of their colleagues who are working with these terrorists.
“This is one of the biggest challenges in Nigeria’s fight against insurgency. Those involved in selling military hardware to terrorists should be treated as coup plotters and should suffer the same fate, serving as a deterrent to others,” he said.
