Sen Moro condemns attacks on Benue South communities, seeks end to carnage

The Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Abba Moro, has condemned the latest attacks by suspected herders in parts of the Benue South Senatorial District.
Recall that suspected armed Fulani herdsmen invaded Rijo, in the Utonkon community of Ado LGA, and Anwule, in the Oglewu community of Ohimini LGA, on Tuesday, killing several persons, leaving others missing, and destroying properties worth millions of naira.
Reports indicate that the attackers targeted farmers working on their farms and villagers in their homes, killing several people with machetes and other weapons.
Senator Moro described the attacks as barbaric and cowardly.
According to a statement by his Media Aide, Emmanuel Echeofun, Sen. Moro said unprovoked attacks on his constituents have become a recurrent decimal.
He called for urgent intervention from relevant government agencies to curb the ugly situation.
“The senator wonders why, for so long, Zone C has been under deadly attacks and yet nobody has been arrested or prosecuted.
“He charges security agents to be on their toes to avert future occurrences and to ensure that those who carried out the latest dastardly acts are brought to face the full wrath of the law.
“He sends his heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and prays for the quick recovery of those wounded.”
