Health Minister applauds CHAG’s commitment to compassion and ethical leadership in healthcare

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has lauded the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) for its consistent dedication to compassionate healthcare delivery and ethical leadership, describing the Association as a trusted partner in advancing Ghana’s health agenda.
Speaking at CHAG’s 5th Annual General Conference held under the theme “Sustaining Christian Identity, Values, and Ethics in Health Systems Strengthening,” Mr Akandoh commended the Association for its decades-long contribution to Ghana’s healthcare system, particularly its outreach in underserved and remote communities.
He stated that quality healthcare extends beyond technical expertise to include empathy and compassion, stating, “Patients often feel treated but not always cared for. This conference reminds us to restore the soul of healthcare, where every encounter becomes a touch of grace.”

The Minister announced that the Ministry of Health will intensify support for CHAG’s training institutions, promote ethical leadership across the sector, and integrate CHAG’s core values into the upcoming Health Sector Medium-Term Development Plan (2026–2029).
Highlighting new government health initiatives, Mr Akandoh referenced the Free Primary Healthcare Policy and MahamaCares, describing them as transformative interventions to ensure no Ghanaian is denied healthcare due to financial or geographical barriers.

He noted that CHAG’s extensive presence in hard-to-reach areas makes it a vital partner in implementing these national health programmes.
“Where resources are limited, values and faith multiply impact,” he added.
Mr Akandoh further pledged stronger collaboration between the Ministry and private-sector stakeholders, including CHAG, to accelerate the completion of the government’s Agenda 111 hospital project.
He expressed appreciation on behalf of the government and President John Mahama, commending CHAG’s mission as “a sacred calling to heal, uplift, and protect life.”
