BoG warns unlicensed mobile loan apps to regularise or face sanctions

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has warned mobile loan applications and digital credit service providers operating without a license to regularise their status or face sanctions.

In a notice issued on November 3, 2025, the central bank said all unlicensed entities must submit the necessary documentation and meet licensing requirements by June 30, 2026.

“Failure to comply with this notice will result in appropriate regulatory action being taken against the non-compliant entities,” the statement said.

The Bank of Ghana also announced that, effective November 3, 2025, it has begun accepting applications from entities seeking to operate as Digital Credit Services Providers.
