There was heightened tension at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital yeseterday after a group of enraged youth stormed the facility and demanded the immediate discharge and release of a suspect accused of stabbing popular Kwahu-based musician Phada Gaza to death.
According to eyewitness reports, the altercation that led to the tragic incident began as a verbal confrontation between Phada Gaza and the suspect.
The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which the suspect reportedly pulled out a jack knife and stabbed the musician in the chest.
Sources indicate that after the stabbing, the suspect was overpowered and sustained injuries during the ensuing chaos before being rushed to the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital under tight security.
However, news of his admission prompted a large crowd of angry youth to besiege the hospital.
The group demanded that the suspect be handed over to them, threatening to take the law into their own hands if justice was not swiftly served.
Police officers from the Nkawkaw Division were quickly deployed to the scene to restore order and protect the suspect, whose condition remains undisclosed.
