Immigration officer unalived at Pulimakom Immigration checkpoint

A sad report from Pulimakom, a border town in the Pusiga District of the Upper East Region confirms the death of an immigration officer afer group of unknown gunmen launched a deadly attack at the Immigration Service checkpoint
According to preliminary information, the armed assault is believed to be a retaliatory attack following the recent seizure of a consignment of opioids by the Immigration officers stationed at the Pulimakom border post.
Eyewitnesses report that the gunmen, who were heavily armed, stormed the checkpoint late at night and opened fire on the officers on duty.
The sudden ambush left one immigration officer dead on the spot, while others sustained various degrees of injury.
The injured officers were quickly transported to the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital for emergency treatment.
Security sources indicate that the attackers fled the scene toward the Ghana–Burkina Faso border, raising concerns about cross-border criminal activities and the growing insecurity along Ghana’s northern frontiers.
