Veteran Ghanaian gospel musician, Obaapa Christy has stated emphatically that the word “Free” is an Ewe name to her.
The Gospel musician disclosed that she used to do things free of charge for people she knew, and sometimes for those she did not even know. However, as time went on, she learned her lessons the hard way.
She stated that, at the moment, before she goes home after a show, she makes sure she is paid in full.
Speaking on a cooking show on UTV, Obaapa Christy stated, “I will actually stand and take my money before I leave. Even if I know the person, I will still take it. That’s because I have learnt my lessons on certain things. The most important thing is that I deliver what is expected of me”.
She went on to add that “That is my job and that is what God has blessed me with. So if I don’t charge, how then will I feed. When someone is in need and they seek help from me, it is the same money I would use to assist the person”.
