Over the weekend, Ghana’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Ambassador Kojo Bonsu, participated in two significant events that highlighted the importance of Ghana-China relations.
On Saturday, November 1, 2025, Ambassador Bonsu was the special guest of honour at the Beijing Students Union of NUGS (National Union of Ghana Students) Akwaaba night.
The event was held at a local venue in Beijing, China.
In his address to the students, Ambassador Bonsu emphasised the need for Ghanaian students to be visionary, innovative, and creative in their approach to learning.
He encouraged them to use their experiences in China as a stepping stone to help develop Ghana, citing China’s leadership in trade, technology, and infrastructure as an example of what can be achieved with determination and hard work.
The Ambassador reassured the students of his commitment to supporting them during their stay in China, stating that he operates an open-door policy and inviting them to visit the Ghana Embassy regularly.
He also offered to keep in touch with them to address any issues that may arise during their studies. The students warmly welcomed this initiative, affectionately dubbing him “Gen Z” President.
The following day, Sunday, November 2, 2025, Ambassador Kojo Bonsu participated in the Sino-Africa Healthcare Cooperation Forum at the China Europe Business School (CEIBS) Beijing campus.
The forum focused on bridging the gap in quality healthcare between China and Africa.
Ambassador Bonsu highlighted the importance of healthcare in national development, noting that Africa must prioritise healthcare systems in its development agenda.
He also mentioned that Ghana is working to reset its health sector, with support from China, particularly in the use of artificial intelligence for health diagnosis.
The Ambassador emphasised the potential for collaboration between China and Africa in this area, citing the advancements China has made in AI technology.
The events demonstrate Ambassador Bonsu’s commitment to engaging with Ghanaian students and promoting Ghana-China cooperation in key areas such as education and healthcare.
