Security agents arrest arms dealer in Zamfara

Security operatives in Zamfara State have arrested a suspected gunrunner in Gusau while he was trying to move a large number of weapons to Dansadau.
According to reports obtained by counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the man was caught during a secret operation on Sunday after officers received reliable intelligence about illegal arms being transported through the state capital.
Sources said the weapons including rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), AK-47 rifles, and various ammunition were hidden inside bags of dried fish to avoid detection.
Investigators believe the weapons may have come from the Lake Chad region, a known route for cross-border arms smuggling used by terrorists and bandits operating across Nigeria’s North-West.
“The suspect was arrested while trying to deliver the weapons to Dansadau, one of the areas recently hit by bandit attacks,” one security source confirmed.
