Thugs mobilizing to attack APC National Chairman in Plateau – Party alleges


The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has raised the price alarm over an alleged plan to attack the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, during an event scheduled for Sunday.

In a statement issued by the state’s Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, the party claimed it had uncovered a plan by some individuals to mobilise thugs to assault the National Chairman during the Gindiri Old Students’ Reunion Service in Gindiri town, Mangu Local Government Area of the state.

The party claimed that those behind the alleged plot were meeting at a private residence in Jos to finalise their plans for the attack.

“As part of the plan, three buses have been arranged in each of the 20 electoral wards in Mangu to transport thugs to the Gindiri Missionary Compound, where they intend to embarrass the National Chairman and his team,” the statement added. 

According to the party, unconfirmed reports indicate that some thugs will also be stationed at the Gindiri Roundabout 

Bamaiyi added that journalists from within and outside Plateau State are being mobilised to create the impression that the people of Plateau despise the National Chairman.

“In view of this unhealthy development, the APC, as a law-abiding political party, is urgently calling on security agencies to investigate the matter to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” he said.

The party also appealed to its supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding despite the alleged provocation.
