Man arrested in Adamawa for allegedly displaying, offering AK-47 for lease, sale

A man has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly displaying an AK-47 rifle in a viral video, offering the weapon for lease or sale to any interested person.
The suspect, Anas Dauda, 32, a resident of Jalingo B area, Lamorde Ward, Mubi South Local Government Area, was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.
“The arrest followed a viral video circulating on social media showing the suspect displaying an AK-47 rifle loaded with three magazines,” the Police Command said in a statement released Friday morning by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje.
Nguroje stated that the suspect made “very disturbing and threatening comments,” claiming he would sell or lease the weapon for a certain amount of money.
“The video, which caused panic and fear among residents, was promptly brought to the attention of the Command,” Nguroje said, adding that upon receiving the report, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, immediately deployed operatives led by the DPO of Mubi South Division to trace, investigate, and apprehend the suspect.
“In a swift response to the directive, police operatives traced and arrested the suspect at a remote location in Mubi town,” Nguroje disclosed.
He added that while investigation is ongoing, efforts are being intensified to recover the prohibited firearm seen in the video and to identify its source.
