EPL: Man Utd will suffer, struggle during AFCON – Amorim

Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim has admitted that his team will suffer and struggle for a little bit when Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo play in the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, later this season.

The AFCON will start on December 21 and the final will take place on January 18, 2026.

Both Mbeumo Diallo will represent their countries, Cameroon and Ivory Coast, respectively, during the competition, while Man United defender Noussair Mazraoui could also be absent as he is expected to represent Morocco.

Speaking on how his team could cope without the key players during AFCON, Amorim said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Man United’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest: “We have time to suffer with that.

“We are going to struggle a little bit, we already knew. It is going to be an opportunity [for others] because when I watch the training, there are players that should be playing.

“But let’s use Amad and Bryan in these games and then see in January.”
