One dead in devastating Agona house fire

A tragic fire incident at Agona Mankrong has claimed one life despite the intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) from the Agona Nsaba Fire Station in the Central Region on Wednesday, October 29.

According to an official statement posted on Facebook by the GNFS, firefighters responded promptly to a distress call reporting a fire outbreak at a residential property in Agona Mankrong.

The crew got to the scene at approximately 11:34 a.m., where they found that the blaze had already engulfed one of the eight rooms in the building.

Members of the public had managed to bring the situation partially under control before the arrival of the fire team.

The firefighters then moved in to fully extinguish the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to the rest of the structure.

While seven rooms were successfully salvaged, one room along with its contents was completely destroyed.

Tragically, one person died.

The GNFS said additional information and further details will be provided once enquiries are complete.

The Service commended the public for their early intervention and reiterated the importance of fire safety awareness and prompt reporting of such emergencies to help minimise losses and save lives.
