Ghana Armed Forces arrest soldier for assaulting civilians in viral video


The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has arrested a soldier captured in a viral video assaulting two civilians at a pharmacy inside Burma Camp in Accra.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Public Relations of the GAF, the incident occurred on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, and involved the soldier physically attacking a drug store attendant and a female customer.

The statement explained that the suspect was arrested at dawn on Thursday, October 30, 2025, by the Ghana Military Police.

He is currently assisting with investigations into the incident.

The victims have also received medical attention and are cooperating with the authorities as investigations continue.

The Ghana Armed Forces assured the public that it does not condone acts of indiscipline or assault by its personnel and will not protect any soldier found guilty of such misconduct.

“The Armed Forces assures the general public that it will not condone any acts of assault on civilians and will not shield any soldier engaged in such,” the statement emphasised.
