Over 200 La Dade-Kotopon students receive support from MP

Over 200 first-year students from the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency entering various Senior High Schools (SHS) have received personal and essential school supplies to support their smooth transition into second-cycle institutions across the country.
The items, procured through the Member of Parliament’s (MP’s) share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), included exercise books, student mattresses, toiletries, essential provisions, and sanitary pads for female students, among others.
Presenting the items in Accra, Ms. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, MP for the area, said the initiative was aimed at easing the financial burden many parents face when preparing their children for school.
“This is a little gesture to support parents in my constituency who go through a lot to secure various items for their children after they gain admission into schools across the country,” she said.
Ms. Sowah noted that the initiative formed part of her broader vision to promote education, empower the youth, and drive socio-economic growth within the constituency.
The MP, who also serves as Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, reaffirmed her commitment to empowering young people in the area by ensuring that no child is left behind due to financial hardship.
She encouraged the beneficiaries to be disciplined and dedicated to their studies, stressing that their academic success would determine their future educational advancement.
“I urge you all to work hard, remain disciplined, dedicated to your studies, and don’t waste the opportunity given to you because your next academic journey to the university depends on your output at the SHS level,” Ms. Sowah advised.
