Lagos father arraigned over alleged five-year defilement of teenage daughter

A 42-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel Egbosimba, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly repeatedly defiling his now 19-year-old biological daughter over a period of five years.
According to the Police Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, the disturbing act began in 2020, when the victim was just 14 years old, and continued until 2025.
The incidents reportedly took place at 29B, Olusesi Close, Ile Ewe, Ejigbo, Lagos.
Ademigbuji informed the court that Egbosimba allegedly began sexually assaulting his daughter following the death of his wife, and continued to do so despite her repeated attempts to resist him.
The prosecutor added that the victim was threatened with death if she ever disclosed the abuse to anyone.
However, after enduring years of trauma, the young woman summoned the courage to report the matter to the police, leading to her father’s arrest.
During the investigation, the victim reportedly told officers that her father forced himself on her almost every day since her mother’s passing.
ASP Ademigbuji stated that the offence contravenes Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes severe penalties for sexual offences, including rape and defilement.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr L. A. Owolabi, did not take the defendant’s plea. Instead, he ordered that Egbosimba be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
The case was adjourned to November 17, 2025, for further mention.
