One killed, four injured in Gombe farmers-herders clash 


One person has been confirmed dead while four others were injured following a clash between farmers and herders in Komi District, Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Security expert, Zagazola Makama, who revealed the incident on his X handle, said the clash occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, after a disagreement broke out between farmers and herders in the area.

According to him, 27-year-old Mohammed Jibrin, a farmer from Komi District, sustained severe injuries during the confrontation and was rushed to the General Hospital in Biri, Nafada Local Government Area, where he later died while receiving treatment. His remains were released to the family for burial according to Islamic rites.

Makama added that three other farmers and a herder suffered minor injuries and were treated at the Wawa Primary Health Care Centre in Funakaye before being discharged.

Police operatives led by the Officer-in-Charge of Wawa Division promptly arrived at the scene to restore order. 

The Gombe State Police Command said normalcy has since been restored to the area, and monitoring efforts are ongoing to prevent further violence.
