NRC resumes passenger services on Warri–Itakpe rail line after maintenance works

Passenger services on the Warri–Itakpe rail line are scheduled to resume today after the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, completed essential maintenance and system inspections.

According to NRC, the temporary suspension of services enabled its engineers to carry out vital repairs on the track infrastructure and rolling stock to enhance passenger comfort, safety, and overall operational efficiency.

In preparation for the resumption of services, the Corporation reactivated its online ticketing platform https://nrc-fane.ng at 12 noon on Monday, October 27, allowing passengers to book their tickets up to 48 hours before travel.

NRC urged passengers to book their tickets early, either through the online portal or at designated railway stations, as full operations resume along the corridor.

“Operations will commence with seven coaches — six standard class and one business class,” the corporation stated, adding that a revised train timetable, which includes temporary speed restrictions for safety monitoring, was also released on Monday.

The corporation thanked passengers and stakeholders for their patience and understanding during the suspension period and apologised for any inconvenience the disruption may have caused.

The Managing Director of NRC, Dr Kayode Opeifa, reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient rail services as passenger operations fully resume on the Warri–Itakpe corridor.
