Jigawa govt approves N30bn road projects

The Jigawa State Government has approved the construction of three major road projects in Miga Local Government Area at a total cost exceeding N30 billion.

Governor Malam Umar Namadi announced this during the official flag-off of the Tsakuwa–Koya–Kafin Hausa road construction in Miga.

According to the governor, Miga serves as one of the state’s major agricultural zones, benefiting from vast Fadama and irrigation facilities that support year-round farming.

He noted that the road projects are intended to improve access to markets, ease the transportation of farm produce, and boost economic activities in the area.

Governor Namadi explained that the 30-kilometre Tsakuwa–Koya–Kafin Hausa feeder road, awarded at a cost of N7 billion, is expected to be completed within 12 months.

“This project is among three major roads being executed by the state government in Miga Local Government as part of our commitment to fulfilling campaign promises,” the governor stated.

The governor made the announcement during his visit to Miga for the Government Citizens Engagement Programme (Gwamnatin Da Jama’a), where he also commissioned a rural electrification project in Koya Village.

During the event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Abdullahi Kainuwa, listed several interventions carried out in the local government over the past two years.

These include the renovation of Miga General Hospital and other primary health facilities, recruitment of new health workers, and the enrolment of over 7,000 vulnerable residents into the state’s Social Health Insurance Scheme.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Education revealed that the government has invested over N5 billion in renovating and constructing classrooms, as well as providing furniture and essential learning materials to schools in the area.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and human capital investment aimed at improving the living standards of citizens across Jigawa State.
