10 herders killed in reprisal attack on Fulani settlement in Kebbi

No fewer than ten herders have been reportedly killed in a reprisal attack on a Fulani settlement in Tilli community, Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to local sources, the attack was launched following the killing of a vigilante member in the area, which was blamed on Fulani residents.
“The reprisal attack was carried out in error. They thought the Fulani were behind the killing of the vigilante,” a resident told our correspondent.
He explained that the assailants invaded the Fulani settlement, killing over ten people during the raid.
“They attacked them in their settlement. Over 10 of them were killed, and search operations are still ongoing for others who might have been killed,” he added.
The National President of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Umar Tafida, have reportedly visited the community to condole with families of the victims.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said he was yet to receive official information on the incident but promised to investigate and provide updates.
