Pilot’s pay protest delays Max Air flight in Maiduguri by 90 minutes

Max Air has resumed its Maiduguri-bound flight after a one-hour, thirty-minute delay triggered by a pilot’s protest over unpaid entitlements.
According to reports by Zagazola Makama, passengers were initially left stranded when the pilot allegedly refused to operate the flight, citing salary issues with the airline’s management.
Following prolonged negotiations, the airline eventually announced boarding around 2:00 p.m., shortly after the pilot and crew were reportedly paid their outstanding salaries.
However, the incident left many passengers uneasy, with some questioning the pilot’s emotional state following the tense standoff.
“Many of us were worried. We’re glad the issue was resolved, but we couldn’t help wondering if the pilot was in the right frame of mind to fly after such a confrontation,” one passenger said.
Another passenger described the episode as “unprofessional and unsettling,” calling on Max Air to resolve staff welfare matters internally to avoid disruptions to flight operations.
Efforts to obtain comments from Max Air officials in Maiduguri were unsuccessful, as management representatives declined to speak on the issue.
