Kaduna Senator, Katung condemns killing of two police officers

The Senator Representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has condemned the killing of two serving gallant police officers on their duty post in Zonkwa Police station, Zango Kataf, Kaduna State.

DAILY POST recalls that suspected bandits broke into the police headquarters in Zonkwa, shot sporadically, killing two police officers on duty

It was disclosed that the bandits tried to gain entrance into the detention room where some of their members were detained but met with stiff resistance.

In a statement he personally signed and made available on Monday morning, Senator Katung said he received with deep sadness the report of the attack on Zonkwa Police Division.

While describing the killing as wicked, barbaric and reprehensible, he said the most disturbing was the dangerous affront on the lives of police personnel, who have continued to protect lives and property of citizens and endure the most difficult and excruciating circumstances in their commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians.

While expressing pain over the ugly incident, he urged security agencies to deploy every available resource to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they were brought to justice without delay.

“My deepest condolences go to the families of the deceased officers, as well as to the entire Police Force. I pray that God grants the departed officers eternal rest and give their families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

“I call on residents of Zonkwa and its environs to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative as security agencies intensify efforts to track down the criminals responsible and make them face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
