US alerts planned Hamas attack in Gaza
The United States government on Saturday notified of credible reports indicating an imminent ceasefire violation by Hamas against the people of Gaza.
The U.S. said any attack against Palestinians would constitute a grave breach of the peace agreement and undermine the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts.
A media note by the State Department advised Hamas, which has been accused of high-handedness, to uphold its obligations under the ceasefire terms.
“Should Hamas proceed with this attack, measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and preserve the integrity of the ceasefire,” it reads.
The U.S. reiterated its commitment to—alongside allies—ensure the safety of civilians, maintain calm on the ground, and advance peace and prosperity in Gaza and the region.
Last week, the United Nations denounced the summary killings in Gaza by Hamas, after video footage showed the execution of eight blindfolded and handcuffed men.
The UN stated that the arbitrary use of lethal force or capital punishment without a judgment pronounced by a constituted court amounts to a war crime.
Reacting to reports of the slaying, President Donald Trump said that if Hamas refuses to stop the bloodshed in Gaza, American forces would be deployed to eliminate them.
“If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them,” the president posted on Truth Social.
