One killed, three injured as mentally unstable man attacks residents in Taraba

A tragic incident occurred late Saturday night in Buzzah community, Zing local government council of Taraba State, when a mentally unstable man allegedly attacked four people, killing one and leaving three others in critical condition.
The assailant, identified by residents as Mr. Denis, a man often seen around Zing town dressed in white native attire and known for pretending to preach on the streets, reportedly launched the attack around 11:00 pm.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim, Hammanyaro Cha’ayonli, lost his life during the assault, while three others sustained severe injuries.
Two of those injured were vigilante members who had previously restricted the suspect’s movements due to concerns over his behavior.
“He always frowned at those he attacked. He saw them as a threat because they often curtailed his access and movement,” a resident told reporters.
Community sources also revealed that the suspect was frequently seen moving around with light weapons, which had been a source of panic for many residents.
The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at Zing General Hospital, while security agencies have commenced investigations to determine the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
Authorities have assured residents that measures are being put in place to prevent further incidents and to restore calm in the community.
